House Tax increase

Sir,
It is to bring in the kind notice of the public in general and the Cantonment Board, Jammu authorities in particular that the Cantonment Board CEO has proposed to send notices of enhanced rate of house tax being levied to the owners of the residential houses. For instance, in my case against a routine house tax of Rs 78 a tax of more than Rs. 9000 is proposed to be charged. Thus, manifold increased house tax is being charged from the poor people residing within the limits of Cantt area. Thereby reducing the status of the owner of the houses as tenants of the Cantt. Board. There appears no logic behind the increasing  the house tax when the poor locality is already burdened with income tax, and pay water and electric charges to the State Govt. for which the facilities are provided by the State Govt. rather than by the Cantt. authorities. Even the street light facilities provided by the cantt authorities are not being properly maintained inspite of repeated requests made to the concerned office to make them functional.
People are also compelled to remit a fees of Rs 200/- against a complaint made to the concerned authorities. Thus the callous attitude of the cantt. authorities is against the established law or norms/rule, as such, unacceptable to the inhabitants of the area. Will the higher authorities of the State Govt take notice of the matter to avoid the hardships being faced by the poor residents of the Cantt. Area?
Yours etc…
