The newly introduced FASTag initiative of the Union Government for paying highway toll which came into force from last month is seen as a mockery with the motorists at Bann Toll plaza. Almost on every day, motorists witness huge jams on both side of toll due to the mismanagement of Toll authorities , NHAI and Police. At one side, Government said with Fastags, one will get relief from long queues but at Bann toll plaza it is opposite.
Those who had installed fastags will also have to wait for more than one hour to pass toll plaza. Moreover when the motorist make complaint with the police or toll authorities for mismanagement, they misbehave with them. This everyday traffic jam gives a horrid time to the commuters, including the Vaishno Devi bound pilgrims, office going employees, students and businessmen. An employee fumed: “We have to cough up toll for undergoing this torture.
Either they (toll collection staff) are a bunch of amateurs or their machines are faulty.” And why the traffic police release all traffic from Nagrota at once which includes trucks, cars and Srinagar going vehicles. Passengers feel they are held hostage at Bann Toll Plaza every time when they pass Toll Plaza.
I had installed Fastag just to save my time but I have to wait for near about 30 minutes if I am lucky enough to pass this toll. It seems Fastag is just a mockery with us at Bann Toll Plaza. The concerned authorities have to redress this issue of traffic mismanagement as they release trucks, Kashmir going vehicles and other other vehicles at once from Nagrota naka which completely creates mess at Bann Toll Plaza.
