JAMMU, Jan 20: Kashmiri Pandit Sabha here today has stated that statement of ex-Chief Minister of J&K, Dr. Farooq Abdullah about genocide of Kashmiri Pandits (KPs) is disappointing.
In a handout Sabha president, K.K Khosa claimed that Farooq Abdullah’s attempt to compare the tragedy that struck KPs with that of collateral killings of Kashmiris belonging to the majority community including politicians etc is a deliberate attempt to justify one wrong by quoting another.
“Having remained CM of J&K many times his assertion about not being able to comprehend the meaning of genocide reeks of attempts to trivialize the mass exodus of entire KP community in 1990 in the wake of their killings, mayhem, loot of their properties, dishonouring of their women and open threats to them,” Khosa maintained.
He said that with elections to the UT Assembly in the offing and the prospects of NC once again becoming a part of the next popular Government, such statements are not only unwarranted but also have the potential of creating doubts in the minds of KPs about their safety and well-being upon their return and rehabilitation in Kashmir if NC returns to power.
The KP leader also said that NC was in power for 12 years after exodus of KPs but no sincere efforts were made to resettle the KPs in Kashmir.
