Farooq to take up Srinagar Airport issues with Centre

SRINAGAR, Feb 24:
Union minister Farooq Abdullah today said he would take up the matter relating to development and upgradation of the Srinagar International Airport with the Centre.
“I will take up the matter relating to development and upgradation of Srinagar International Airport with concerned authorities,” the New and Renewable Energy minister said at a meeting of the Airport Advisory Committee here.
The Committee discussed various issues pertaining to development and improvement of the airport for the benefit of passengers, an official spokesman said.
The meeting also deliberated on several issues like operation of international flights, late night flights to and fro Srinagar and providing more and better facilities to passengers.
“I will pursue these matters with Civil Aviation and Defence ministeries,” Abdullah, who is also president of the ruling National Conference, said.
The Union Minister directed the Airport Director to take immediate steps for upgrading facilities for passengers.
Abdullah inaugurated two new Passenger Boarding Bridges set up at a cost of Rs two crore increasing the total number of these bridges to four, the spokesman said. (AGENCIES)
