Farooq asks people to remain united, meets students delegation

SRINAGAR, Oct 20: National Conference president Dr Farooq Abdullah today impressed upon the people to maintain unity among different sections of the society and work towards spreading the teachings of Islam.
While addressing a group of students belonging to Jamia Zia- ul- Uloom, Higher Secondary School Poonch at his Gupkar residence, Dr Abdullah said, “The whole country is going through very tough times. The forces inimical to the unity are out on loose. Their only concern is to spread hatred and vitiate peaceful atmosphere. It therefore, is incumbent upon all of us to defeat the evil designs.”
The students led by Darul Uloom Principal, Moulvi Waheed Ahmad Banday are on a 5- day visit to Kashmir.
Dr Farooq stressed upon the students to learn Holy Quran and imbibe the teachings of Islam in its true spirit. “As a Muslim it’s our primary duty to spread Islam. The path is in front of you which is to first learn and then spread the teachings of the Holy book and help others understand it. It therefore, becomes your duty to spread Islam all across,” Dr Farooq said.
The NC president later distributed shawls and caps among students and appreciated the works done by the founder of the said Jamia and Dar- ul- Aloom Poonch Moulana Ghulam Qadir Banday who is also a member of All India Personal Law Board. “His services towards Islam and welfare of the people will always be remembered,” Dr Farooq said.
On the occasion, party general secretary, Ali Mohammad Sagar was also present. He appreciated the work of the said Jamia and said it will go a long way in helping youngsters to learn Islam and its teachings in its true form.
