KATHUA, June 16: The farmers of border area demanded the implementation of MS Swami Nathan report in favour of farming community. The report which was in the larger interests of farmers and was submitted to Government of India in 2006 has not been implemented till date and it is lying in dust bin said Shiv Dev Singh, president, Rashtriya Kissan Sangthan while addressing a demonstration of farmers at Marheen tehsil of the district today.
The Rashritya Kissan Sanghtan led by its President, Shiv Dev Singh who led a protest in support of their demands also paid tributes to six farmers killed in firing in Madhya Pradesh. The farmers committed suicide as they are being harassed due to policies of Government, said Singh.

The farmers drawn from Kathua district and its adjoining areas joined the protest and raised slogans in favour of their demands.
While addressing Shiv Dev Singh said that the protest dharna is in support of All India Kissan protest in MP and Maharashtra States to seek justice from the Government. He said that the farmers of J&K are also facing the injustice through the hands of Government and were deprived of their rights.
He alleged that the farmers wheat crops have damaged in Jammu region due to drought and flood in 2014. But the State Government did not pay any compensation to farmers whereas the other states have sanctioned appropriate rates of damaged crops. He said dharna will continue in Marheen and it will also be held in other tehsils like Kathua, Samba and Jammu to raise our demands. He warned the Government to solve the grievances of farmers otherwise the farmers along with their family members will come on the road and intensify protest against the Government.
