REASI, Sept 16: Farmers in Seela Panasa Panchayat of Reasi district today protested against Agriculture Department as a particular variety of maize seed supplied to them in the current season did not produce quality crops and the yield has gone down.
Because of this, farmers have suffered heavy losses.
According to the protesting farmers, the Agriculture Department distributed maize seeds to them this year. But the seeds were of bad quality and the poor farmers suffered heavy loss due to this, they added.
The protesting farmers burnt maize crop on Seela Road and asked the Government to compensate them otherwise they would be forced to launch an agitation.
