Farmers express concern over pathetic scenario of agriculture

JAMMU, June 12: The farmers of Jammu Province held a meeting under the chairmanship of Tajinder Singh Wazir, President, JK Kissan Council and member JK Kissan Advisory Board and expressed concern over pathetic scenario of agriculture and allied sectors in J&K.
While speaking, Wazir alleged that due to the callousness and discriminatory altitude of State Government while planning of funds for Jammu Province, the farmers from rural area are planning to migrate to big cities for labour jobs.
He stated that all important posts like Director Enforcement, Deputy Director Agriculture Jammu, Chief Agriculture Officers of Jammu and Udhampur are lying vacant, which is affecting the farmers as kharief season is on peak.
He said that result frame work document and accountability of funds utilization in public sector have been put on back burner and officers are busy in making claims for more salary under 7th Pay Commission without showing any practical achievement on grounds.
“Agriculture in border areas have been badly effected in these days by unprovoked firing on borders of Jammu where world famous Basmati is to be planted, which need attention of Deputy Chief Minister Kavinder Gupta for special review and meeting for fix responsibility of Government machinery for trouble free planting”, Wazir asserted.
The farmers appealed to the Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti to interfere in timely release of funds from State Government for agriculture and allied sectors. They also demanded reviving of policy for result frame work document.
