JAMMU, Nov 15: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) senior leader and Member DDC Suchetgarh Taranjit Singh Tony today said that the farmers in J&K are at receiving end under the BJP Government as they have to move from pillar to post to get quality seeds, fertilizer and irrigation water as those sitting at helm are busy in rhetoric without caring about plights of tillers and common masses.
The senior AAP functionary was addressing a Kissan rally as chief guest in Khour area of Akhnoor. The event was organized by Devender Singh (district president, Kissan Wing Rural) along with Shanker Singh Chib (provincial president, Kissan Wing) and Ashok Sharma (district president Jammu Rural at Khour).
Senior AAP leaders Partap Jamwal, Subash Sharma, Dr Rajinder Thappa, Tanvir Hussain, Mandeep Choudhary, Rakesh Kundal, Bal Krishan Bhagat, Rajni Devi and Manohar Lal accompanied Tony in the rally.
After holding interaction with the local farmers who apprised him about acute shortage of fertilizer, Tony said that over 750 farmers sacrificed their lives for repealing draconian farm laws and to protect the rights and interest of the farming community, and therefore under no circumstances the farmers in the UT will compromise on any of the issues.
“Farmers sufferings have increased manifold. Farmers are not getting water, seeds and fertilizer in time. What is the Government doing for farmers? What has the Directorate of Agriculture done for farmers? “, he questioned.
Tony said there are 5 to 6 joint directors in the Directorate of Agriculture but none is seen doing any good to farming community rather they prefer to sit in offices doing nothing. He said that the incumbent Government has proved to be a big failure as on all fronts whether we talk about seeds, fertilizers, irrigation or scientific interventions.
