Family seeks probe into woman engineer’s ‘suicide’

Srinagar, June 5: Family members and relatives of a woman engineer who allegedly committed suicide in downtown city here today staged a protest seeking probe into the matter.
The relatives of the woman, a junior engineer who reportedly jumped into river Jhelum from Zaina Kadal Bridge on May 5 this year demanded a probe into the matter. Pointing fingers towards the in-laws of the woman, the protesting relatives of the woman said: “we demand a probe into the circumstances that led to her death. We don’t know whether she committed suicide or was murdered.”
So far, the body of the woman has not been retrieved despite massive searches by army’s marine commandos at Zaina Kadal. Reports said that the woman was posted in Irrigation and Flood Control Department at Ganderbal.
