Srinagar, Mar 11: A patient along with his relatives today alleged that they were asked to get surgery done privately even after they were made to get the required medicines at Sub-District Hospital Kangan.
The patient who identified himself as Mudasir Ahmad, son of Mohammad Ashraf Rather, a resident of Kangan during a protest demonstration said that he was asked by the concerned surgeon at the hospital to undergo an Ortho-Surgery, however, the same, as per the patient was stalled by the concerned Anaesthetist.
“I was told to undergo Ortho-Surgery the Anaesthetist deferred it for two months and later asked me to get the surgery done at Khyber Hospital,” he said.
The patient said that he was asked to get the medicines that are to be used in the surgery and that now, he is being told that the surgery cannot be performed at the hospital.
“I was even admitted for the surgery and was later taken out of the operation theatre; it was despite signing the consent,” he said. The patient said that he cannot afford to get the surgery done at the private hospital given the cost that it incurs.
When contacted, Chief Medical Officer Ganderbal Dr Mehraj Sofi told Excelsior that such a procedure is not done at the hospital and that a surgeon who was attending the patient was not aware of the fact that such a procedure is not even carried out at District Hospital.
“During the procedure, there is a need USG Guided Block, the machine which is not available at the hospital and not even at the District Hospital; the patient was told the same and he then projected it differently,” he said.
