UDHAMPUR, Oct 12: On the occasion of World Sight Day, a surgical camp for economical weaker patients was organized at Rotary Hospital Udhampur and a free eye screening camp was organized at Little Angels High School Udhampur.
Both the camps were organized by Rotary Eye & ENT Hospital Udhampur in association with Rotary Club Udhampur. The main objective of the camps was to create awareness regarding blindness and vision impairment.
On this occasion, 13 patients, which were operated yesterday free of cost by Dr Ankur Goel, Phaco & Vitreoretinal Surgeon and Dr Sumeru Raina of Rotary Eye Hospital Udhampur, were discharged. Dr Ankur Goel, while speaking on the occasion, expressed the need for prevention of avoidable blindness in the service area.
The function was inaugurated by Dr Santosh, Deputy CMO, Udhampur in the presence of members of Rotary Club of Udhampur. Addressing the gathering on the World Sight Day, Dr Santosh assured all sort of help to Rotary Eye Hospital Udhampur from District Health authorities.
The Rotary Eye Hospital Udhampur started hospital based community eye health programm with the objective to declare Udhampur as avoidable blindness free upto 2020. Members of Rotary Club who attended the function were DN Sharma, SS Kerni, Puran Lal Sharma, Kamal Gupta and whole staff.
