Export Promotion Board for J&K constituted

JAMMU, Jan 21: Government has accorded sanction to the constitution of Export Promotion Board for the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
According to the Government order, Lieutenant Governor of J&K will be the chairman of the Export Promotion Board which will have 40 members, one member secretary and 9 co-opted members.
The 41 members of the Board will be Chief Secretary of the UT, three Advisors of the Governor, Administrative Secretaries of Finance, Agriculture Production, Horticulture, Mining and Floriculture Departments, Vice Chancellors of SKUAST Jammu/Kashmir, Director General Foreign Trade (Government of India), Divisional Commissioners of Jammu/Kashmir, Chairman J&K Bank, Development Commissioners of Handicrafts and Handlooms in Union Ministry of Textiles, Director General Export Promotion Council for handicrafts, MD India Trade Promotion Organization, Executive Director Carpet Export Promotion Council, Representative of Secretary in Union Ministry of MSME, MD J&K Trade Promotion Organization, Excise Commissioner J&K, Commissioner State Taxes Department J&K, MD J&K Handloom Handicrafts Development Corporation, Director Airport Authority of India Srinagar Airport, Director, Geology & Mining, Directors of Industries & Commerce, Handicrafts & Handloom, Agriculture, Horticulture and Floriculture departments of Jammu as well as Kashmir, MD J&K SIDCO, MD J&K Industries Limited and Secretary/Chief Executive Officer of Khadi & Village Industries Board.
Presidents of Kashmir as well as Jammu Chamber of Commerce & Industries, president of Federation of Chamber of Industries Kashmir, Chairman of Walnut Exporters Association, president of Shawls Exporters Association, representative of Confederation of Indian Industry J&K Chapter, president of PHD Chamber of Commerce & Industries J&K Chapter, president of Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce & Industries J&K Chapter will be the co-opted members of the Board. Besides, any other representative from trade & industry or handicrafts & handloom sector or any eminent exporter may be co-opted by the chairman.
The Board will select and manage the areas to be declared as Export Promotion Hubs in the UT, and finalize the Export Policy/Strategy formulated by the Apex-level Export Promotion Committee. The Board can undertake any matter related to the amendment of any Government regulation to facilitate Ease of Doing Business, besides undertaking measures for taking all principal stakeholders on board connected with the identified export sectors.
Moreover, it will have to undertake any other matter connected with the promotion of exports which is referred to it by the Government of J&K. The Board shall have to meet at least once in every six months and it will be serviced by the Industries & Commerce Department.
