Expert Group discusses modalities to make Skill Lab functional in GMC

JAMMU, May 17: Dr Sunanda Raina, Principal and Dean, Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu today chaired a meeting of Expert Group on Comprehensive Skill Lab here in her office chamber, to discuss modalities for making the lab functional academically.
The Comprehensive Skill Lab with the aim of acquisition and up-gradation of the skills of health care providers to provide quality reproductive, maternal, neonatal and child health services has been constructed in AMT School, GMC, Jammu. The Lab has been funded by Maternal Health Division, Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare through State level National Health Mission.
To make the said skill lab functional within the shortest possible time and to dedicate it for teaching and training of the nurses, paramedical staff and various health care providers, various issues were discussed and deliberated in the meeting.
The Expert committee and nodal officer and member secretary (Principal AMT) appointed were assigned job to prepare year based training calendar in time bound manner under the prescribed ambit of NHM in the field of antennal care, intra-natal care, complication management, new born care, family planning, infection prevention and basic life support training.
It was directed to the Principal AMT to make work station ready on or before May 23, 2019 and all the mannequins and simulators, books and teaching material be made available and displayed for the teaching benefits of the students. Further, three qualified personal were nominated for the first training programme based on their qualification in the relevant field to be done at New Delhi.
Nodal Officer proposed in the meeting that within 15 days, a basic orientation/sensitization CME for the benefit of nursing, paramedical, final year MBBS students and interns under the ambit of medical education unit will be organized under this Skill Lab at GMC Auditorium.
Various expert faculty members, Deputy Director Planning and Chief Accounts Officer also participated in the meeting.
