Excelsior Correspondent
JAMMU, June 23: Jammu & Kashmir Sharnarthi Action Committee (JKSAC) has urged upon the State Government to expedite the process of distribution of  package among the Displaced Persons ( DPs) at the earliest.
In a meeting of the members of JKSAC held at RS Pura, president of the body,  Gurdev Singh stressed upon the authorities to expedite the process. He extended gratitude to the Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Dr MK Bhandari for his concerted efforts in this regard.  Sing said that entire machinery should be geared up for the process of verification of files to finish the job in a time bound manner.
Singh expressed his concern for causing delay to start the process of disbursement of relief package which has already been delayed by almost two years period. The DPs after filing their papers in huge number are still awaiting the relief which is brewing resentment among them. He said that authorities have been fully apprised about the problem, regarding obtaining of documents and their completion, being faced by DPs of 1947 from PoK. Dr Bhandari has also been also apprised regarding the harassment, the DPs are facing at the hands of Tehsildars and their staff of respective districts for delaying the issuance of Legal Heir Certificate and other required documents to complete their cases on one pretext or other, just to prolong the disbursement process for their vested interests.
He condemned the Govt,  particularly BJP for its stoic silence over the clarity of the package and other related issues particularly reservation for their wards both in State and Central services/institutions without which the settlement issue cannot be considered as adequate and final. He said that DPs have been continued to be oppressed and discriminated, leaving them with meagre respite in any sphere of their lives and added that false bogies of facilities extended earlier to DPs from time to time are raised to distort the facts by the Govt. Instead of rhetoric, the Govt should come forward with a constructed road map to resolve the issue logically to safeguard the DPs future generations.
