Expedite package of Rs 30 lakh for DPs

Excelsior Correspondent
JAMMU, Oct 21: The Jammu and Kashmir Sharnarthi Action Committee (JKSAC) has urged upon the State Government to expedite the package of Rs 30 lakh for each DP family of 1947 from PoK  and other categories along with reservations for their wards as per the recommendations of JPC.
Speaking in the meeting of JKSAC members held here today, Gurdev Singh (president) said that it is appropriate time for the State coalition partners particularly BJP to take up the issue on priority to reciprocate the faith the DPs have reposed in them. He added that though DPs have full faith in State Govt but their cryptic silence and their causing inordinate delay in submission of revised reiterated package to Central Govt leads them dismayed.
He asserted that it is very simple issue as lot of exercise and deliberations have already been done between the State and Central Governments and representatives of DPs. And now only an honest will is required to justify the package and resolve the issue. He cautioned the State Government that while preparing the revised package they should not follow the foot steps of previous package sent by the previous Government for only 26,319 families of DPs of PoK leaving aside 5400 families who settled outside the State  and 9500 families which were not considered on flimsy grounds.
The SAC leader urged upon the Government to re-design the package afresh to give impetus to overall economic development of DPs and should not dump the issue on one pretext or the other, rather it should be resolved with the honest political will in a time frame taking into confidence the representatives of DPs of all the  categories.
Prominent among those  present in the meeting included  Vikas Sharma, Prof Harbans Singh, Parvesh Kumar, Rakesh Gupta, Ajay Kumar, Ashok Kumar and Om Parkash.
