Expectations from SVO

Sir,
This refers to the editorial titled “Soft peddling by State Vigilance Department ” (DE 26.10.2017). State Vigilance Commission (SVC) had been reconstituted again very recently. Being an anti-corruption and RTI campaigner I have not found  that SVC  has initiated any stringent action against the corrupt officials of  State from the day SVC was constituted several years back . When SVC Act was enacted in 2011, we thought corruption graph will come down and action will be initiated against the corrupt bureaucrats and police officers, but that never happened.
Crores of rupees were spent on the salaries and other perks  of previous SVC Commissioners but the outcome was big zero. We hope newly appointed  State Chief Vigilance Commissioner (CVC) P L Gupta and Vigilance Commissioner  Gazzanfer Hussain will re-open all the pending corruption cases.
The  people have lots of expectations from these upright officers. More-so  General Administration Department (GAD) must give sanction for prosecution against all the corrupt officers against whom such recommendations have been made . State Vigilance Organisation (SVO) during last 3 to 4 years has filed several FIRs after investigating corruption cases, but in many cases the Government has not taken any action. I believe Vigilance Commission / Vigilance Organisation should be allowed to function independently without any Govt influence.
Yours etc…
