Excelsior Correspondent
JAMMU, Nov 17: Kashmiri Pandit Conference (KPC ) in a meeting today at New Delhi expressed serious concern over the failure of the successive Governments in rehabilitating the displaced Pandits in Kashyap State (Kashmir) their homeland where from they were forced to flee under a conspiracy by terrorists and separatists with the backing of Pakistan.
Addressing the meeting, Kundan Kashmiri, president KPC said that the Kashmiri Pandits have remained cut off from their roots and moorings for the last 30 years due to which the new generations were detracted from the cultural values and traditions.
Holding the Government responsible for the present plight of the community which had a history of over 5000 years rich civilization, Kashmiri said the need of hour is that the younger generation should be linked to its roots. He also expressed grave concern over dwindling population of the community after its mass exodus from Valley 30 years back.
He said it is the need of the hour to maintain linguistic heritage by preserving out mother tongue Kashmiri language. While elaborating it further, Kashmiri said that we see Kashmiri language is losing it’s savvy very fast on the second generation of Kashmiri boys and girls and they hardly take pride communicating in Kashmiri language with their community fellows and very sadly they have adopted and imbibed a non- Kashmir culture and language.
He said if the community wants to preserve its cultural heritage it has to preserve its language at any cost.
