2 more stone crushers sealed, power connections snapped

Units were operating without NOC from PCB

KATHUA, Nov 17: Two more stone crushers, operating illegally at the bank of river Ujh in Pandori area of Nagri in district Kathua were today sealed by the Deputy Commissioner Kathua, Rohit Khajuria. The power supply line to these units was also snapped.
Official sources said that on the directions of the DC Kathua, a team of officers led by Tehsildar Nagri besides Executive Engineer PDD Kathua and other staff conducted raids at three stone crushers operating at the bank of river Ujh in Pandori area of Nagri-Parole and found that two of them were operating illegally. They had not obtained NOC/ Consent to operate certificate from the State Pollution Control Board authorities Jammu/ Kathua.
The units which failed to produce certificate included M/s Sant Stone Crusher and M/s SK Stone Crusher at Pandori village. The team sealed both the units and also disconnected the power supply to these illegally operating stone crushers with the connivance of some SPCB and G&M officials.
It is pertinent to mention here that during surprise raid in Pandori area near Nagri last night, the DC Kathua had himself sealed an illegally operating stone crusher. Two vehicles/ loaded tippers were also seized by the team.
Khajuria when contacted told the Excelsior that the power supply line to these three illegally operating stone crushers at Pandori Ujh bank, has been snapped. Tehsildar concerned was directed to seal the units and initiate legal action against the defaulters. He said the District Administration would also take cognizance in respect of failure on the part of concerned SPCB and G&M officials who remained inactive and allowed illegal operation of these units. The DC said that similar raids will be continued in coming days at several places in the district.
