Exhibition on New Criminal Laws concludes, thousands participate

JAMMU, Sept 24: A three-day mega exhibition on New Criminal Laws, organised by the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Crime Branch Jammu, concluded today with a grand closing ceremony attended by Special Secretary Home J&K UT, Ranjit Singh, as the Chief Guest.
The exhibition, held for the first time in Jammu on the directions of the Ministry of Home Affairs and under the supervision of DGP J&K Nalin Prabhat, and IGP Crime J&K, Sujit Kumar Singh, drew participation from over ten thousand people including students, scholars, educationists, probationary officers, experts and officials of different departments.
In his address, Ranjit Singh stressed that not only implementing agencies but also the public must be sensitized about the new laws which replace colonial-era codes.
He said the new laws aim at timely justice for victims and greater reliance on digital, documentary and oral evidence.
He added that such exhibitions would also be organised at district levels and praised the Crime Branch for bringing together various agencies to showcase their functioning and achievements.
SSP Crime Benam Tosh, the nodal officer for the event, thanked the public, institutions, media and sister agencies for their support in making the exhibition a success.
The initiative has been widely appreciated by people for spreading awareness on the new laws.
On the occasion, several dignitaries were honoured, including Deputy Director FSL Dr Kumar Sourabh, Chief Prosecuting Officer Manmohit Sharma, Dr Neha Manawar, Dr Neetika Bharti, Dr Faizan Choudhary, Dr Swati Kapoor, SP South Jammu Ajay Sharma, CRB head Sunnya Wani, SDPO East Sheezan Bhat and SHO Women Police Station Jammu Arti Thakur.
