SRINAGAR, June 26: Describing the executive police an important pillar of the Organization, the Director General of Police (DGP), K. Rajendra Kumar has said that executive police has to play a vital role in strengthening its relations with people, having their commitment of public service. He said that executive police, being the first responder to the problems of public has a great responsibility to win their trust by delivering justice.
Mr. Rajendra was addressing the police officers during his day long tour to Doda, Kishtwar and Ramban districts of Jammu Province today. The visit was aimed to assess the law and order, crime situation in these districts.
IGP, Jammu Zone, Rajesh Kumar and DIG, Doda-Kishtwar Range, Ashkoor Ahmed Wani were accompanying the DGP during his visit.
During the meetings, Mr. Rajendra sought reports from the concerned District Superintendents of Police about law and order situation in their respective districts. Crediting the personnel for maintaining peace and order in these districts, he lauded their role in dealing various situations in a professional manner including the conduct of Lok Sabha election 2014.
He said that the efforts should be continued, keeping in mind the experiences of the bygone period. He said that the district police has a great responsibility to deliver to the people who remains in public service at different places including the far-flung areas. He said that timely disposal of public grievances and better attitude at lowest level would build image of the Organization among the masses. He said that selfless service by the personnel would be recognized while the tainted, selfish elements would not be tolerated in the Organization.
Discussing the crime situation, the DGP stressed upon the officers to chalk out an effective mechanism and deal the challenge of crime firmly. He said that the investigation process should be stepped up to bring the culprits to justice. He asked to nab the evil before it raises its head and poses challenge to the law enforcing agencies.
During the visit, Mr. Rajendra addressed jawans at the trio district headquarters. He asked the men in khaki to behave as a public servant and work for the betterment of the society.
During the durbar, the DGP heard the jawans patiently. He asked the officers to hold durbars at their own levels to solve genuine problems of the personnel within their competence. He assured the cops that PHQ is at their back and will consider the problems within shortest time.
Among others, the meetings and durbars were attended by Superintendents of Police, Javaid Ahmed Mattoo, Mohammad Sharief Chouhan, Sanjay Kotwal, Commandants of Armed and IRP Battalions and other police officers.
