Excise sleuths destroy 1650 kgs of lahan, 10 bottles of illicit liquor

JAMMU, Apr 20: Under the active supervision of Deputy Excise Commissioner, (Execu-tive), Jammu, Mohammad Shahid Saleem, the Excise sleuths conducted series of raids in district Kathua under the command of ETO, Kathua Excise Range, Sandeep Gupta, to arrest the menace of illicit distillation of liqour.
The team conducted raids in villages Kokhyal, Keengdayal, Muthikuurd, Budhi and Barnoti and adjoining areas. In the process 1650 Kg lahan and 10 bottles of illicit liquor prepared from lahan, which is highly injurious to health, has been destroyed. The Department has initiated multi-pronged strategy to arrest the menace of illicit distillation of liqour.
A handout issued here today by the Department said that Inspection teams have been activated and there will be no laxity for those who violate the law.
