ANANTNAG, Apr 20: A 4-day long International Coaching Camp on Woodball was today inaugurated by MLA Kokernag, Abdul Rahim Rather.
About 50 players from Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Delhi, Orissa, UP, Jharkhand and Telangana States are participating in the camp.
In his inaugural address, the MLA lauded the role of the National Woodball organizers and divisional president for organizing the event for the first time in the State and for selecting Kokernag as its venue.
The MLA stressed upon the authorities to organize more sports events in the area and providing the local youth an opportunity to get trained for national level tournaments. He said that such events also provide a boost to the State tourism.
National organizer Woodball, M K Tiwari, on the occasion, said that among the 50 players who are participating in the camp, best players will be selected for the World Woodball Championship to be played at Taiwan in the month of May this year.
District Youth Services and Sports Officer Anantnag was present on the occasion.
Among others, the camp was attended by District president PDP, Sheikh Javaid Ahmad besides people from adjoining areas.
