JAMMU : The Jammu and Kashmir State Excise Department has registered a growth of 8.52 per cent in the first seven months of this fiscal with a revenue collection of Rs 565.04 crore.
The Department had collected revenues worth Rs 520.69 crore in the year-ago period.
The numbers were disclosed at a review meeting of the Excise Department held here today under the chairmanship of the Minister for Finance and Ladakh Affairs, A R Rather, an official spokesman said.
The Minister said that the department has maintained a healthy growth rate in revenue collection which has been achieved with the efficient functioning of the officers and the field functionaries.
He asked them to work with more dedication to achieve the set targets.
Rather said there is a need to chalk out a comprehensive strategy to plug in loopholes causing revenue leakage.
He exhorted the officers to work with utmost dedication and honesty to accomplish the assigned duties and also stressed on the need for intensified surveillance to check menace of illicit liquor and cultivation of narcotics. (Agencies)
