JAMMU, Oct 9: Anonymous hackers originating from Pakistan today tried to harm the website of Daily Excelsior and partially blocked email traffic of the newspaper using DDoS (Distributed Denial of Service) method of attack.
The hackers operating from Pakistan, China and United States tried to harm the Excelsior server www.dailyexcelsior.com and partially blocked the email service by choking the website through spurious internet traffic.
It, however, couldn’t be ascertained as from which of the three countries the hackers were operating but they had Pakistani origin.
Pugmarks-the service provider of the newspaper, who also maintain portfolio of Daily Excelsior websites later blocked internet traffic to our website from Pakistan, China and United States due to security reasons.
The method of attack was DDoS, which floods websites with spurious internet traffic so that they become unavailable.
Due to blockade of internet traffic, a number of press notes and other news were not received at the Excelsior email address.
The website also went down on several occasions.
