Ex-servicemen rally organised

RAJOURI, Sept 8: An Ex-servicemen rally was organised at Sunderbani in district Rajouri today.
While addressing an impressive rally at Sunderbani, president of J&K Ex-Services League, Maj Gen ( Retd) Goverdhan Singh Jamwal, informed the gathering about the arrival of Justice L Narasimha Reddy at Jammu on Sept 9, 2016 at Tiger Auditorium in Jammu Cantonment at 9 am for which they are also invited. He informed them that their important issues are being taken up by him which include, One Rank One Pension (OROP) must be equalized every year and not every five years; OROP benefits must be extended to reservists; OROP must be implemented from April 1, 2014 instead of July 1, 2014 and the base year should be top of Financial Year 2013 – 2014, instead average of Calendar year 2013.
Maj Gen Jamwal also informed that he made a presentation to the All Party Parliamentary Delegation headed by Raj Nath Singh at Jammu on Sept 5 and told them that there are about 2 lakh soldiers and Ex-servicemen in the State and there are no jobs for them. They only live on their pensions. He urged the Finance Minister, Arun Jaitley to accept OROP without any deviation. He promised to take up their issue of appointment of Zila Sainik Welfare Officer at Rajouri, ECHS at Sunderbani, permanent DPDO office at Rajouri and shifting of ECHS Cell to MH Rajouri.
Col Rajinder Singh, general secretary, Lt Col Kulwant Singh Sambyal, OIC Pension Cell, Hony Capt Azam Malik, Capt Satnam Singh, Naib Subedar Baisakhi Ram, District president Rajouri , Hav Vishno Dutt, Tehsil president Sunbderbani also addressed the rally.
