Ex-policemen discuss demands

JAMMU, June 10: A meeting of Ex-Policemen League of district Jammu was held at District Police Lines here in which various issues pertaining to welfare of retired policemen were discussed. President of the League K S Sambyal presided over.
All the members of League requested the Director General of Police to take up the matter with the Government regarding revival of SRO 458-P dated October 13, 1999 (kept in abeyance) which protects and takes care of all the problems of retired police personnel.
Other demands discussed included reimbursement of medical claims to the ailing retired police personel who undergo medical treatment during their admission in Government/ recognized private nursing homes; removal of pay anomalies inthe pay scale of NGOs; and on spot payment of Rs 10,000 through a special representative of Police Department in the event of death of police officers and officials.
The speakers demanded that all SHOs be directed to visit once in every quarter of a year the residences of retired police officers, residing in their jurisdiction to enquire their health and welfare. During the meting it was also decided that the executive body of district committee members would approach the DGP J&K for suitable accommodation for office use in the Police premises wherein about 50 to 70 chairs could be adjusted, be provided to the League.
Those who participated in the meeting included P L Mattoo, Choudhary Bachan Singh, V P Gupta, Som Raj Duta, R K Bali, Durga Dass Sharma, Ashok Bhagat, Hari Chand Bhagat, Bushan Lal garyali, Yoginder Singh Jamwal, Ch Mohd Saleem, Ch Balwant Rai, Jawahar Lal Gupta, Kasturi Lal, Choudhary Bhag Singh, Ghulab Singh, Dhian Singh, Ved Raj Bali and Shamsher Bhagat.
