POONCH, Dec 28: Former MLC, Dr Shehnaz Ganai has urged upon the district administration to constitute monitoring teams and send them to spot to assess the difficulties and loss of properties of general public, occurred due to the recent inclement weather conditions in far flung areas of Haveli constituency of Poonch district.
In a press statement the Ex-MLC said that Administration must be fully prepared well before all such happening as it has many mediums to reach out to the general public. She said that the power scenario in far- flung areas of tehsil Mandi has gone bad to worse as most of the transformers are out of order and no repair has been done to overcome the power issue in these areas.
“It is surprising to know that even after showing the successful completion of second phase `Back to Village Programme’ by the authorities, the problem of power supply still exists there and no quick action plan to sort out the issue has been chalked out during back to village programmes. The Administration must be timely prepared and should convene all departments meeting soon after the issuance of advisory from Meteorology department,” she added.
Dr Ganai further said that in order to overcome such like problems, the administration should be well aware of power consumption during cold weather conditions. It is worth mentioning that many Panchs and Sarpanchs especially women representatives have appealed the former MLC to intervene and get their issues solved at its earliest.
She assured the Panchayat members that she will definitely take these issues with the local Administration and also with UT higher authorities. She appealed the LG of J&K UT to issue necessary directions to the concerned quarters for early redressal of the problem.
