Ex-MLA expresses concern over power crisis in Valley

JAMMU, Feb 3: Former MLA Devsar and senior Congress leader, Mohammed Amin Bhat has expressed grave concern over the failure of Government in solving the problems being faced by the people in South Kashmir especially Kuglam district.
In a statement issued here, today he said that people in rural as well as urban belt are facing acute power crisis in South Kashmir in these chilly days but authorities are not bothered to solve them and provide some relief to the masses.
He said people especially of Devsar Constituency in South Kashmir are facing long duration power cuts, low voltage problem and electricity makes hide and seek which has added to the woes of people. Bhat, while expressing his concern over the plight of the laborers working in Rural Development Department has urged the authorities to clear their outstanding payment both material as well as labour component to them who worked under MGNREGA works during past three years.
He also criticised the Government for its failure in providing compensation to farmers of Kashmir who suffered heavy loss due to untimely snow fall in November for second consecutive year. He said growers also suffered a heavy loss due to the same. He demanded that farmers and fruit growers be paid adequate relief.
Bhat also expressed his concern over the frequent closure of Jammu-Srinagar National Highway due to which the passengers are put to many hardships and urged the Government that steps be taken to ensure that the Highway is restored on war-footing basis in case of landslides in future.
