SAMBA, Feb 14: One person committed suicide in village Diani in Samba district today by consuming some poisonous substance.
He has been identified as Rakesh Kumar, son of Pritam Chand of Diani Samba. He is also the relative of former Minister, Dr D K Maniyal and was working as his PA during his tenure as MLA Samba and Minister. The cause of his extreme step was not immediately known. Samba Police has registered a case under relevant sections of the law in this regard and started investigation.
SHO Samba Shiv Dev Singh said that police has taken dead body into its custody and started inquest proceedings. He said the cause of death is yet to be ascertained. The body will be handed over to family for last rites after postmortem, he added.
However sources said that Rakesh was in a debt trap as he owed a lot of money to people which he could not repay and facing the pressure of the lenders of money he ended his life.
