Ex-JCCI president claims allegations against him baseless

JAMMU, Dec 17: The outgoing president of the Jammu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI) Rakesh Gupta today claimed that allegations and misinformation campaign against him, launched by some Chamber members with regards to the Chamber funds were baseless.

While clarifying his position at a press conference here today, Ex-president, JCCI Rakesh Gupta said that when he took over as president in June 2014, the Chamber liabilities were more than reserves. He said the whooping liability towards JDA was to the tune of Rs 61 lakhs.
Gupta further claimed that when the working of JCCI came to grinding halt on Feb 19, 2020, the JCCI had Rs 1,50,42,000 including FDRs in J&K Bank Account Bahu Plaza, Rs 63,67,000 in IDBI Bank account Rail Head Complex, Rs 5,36,000 in Citizens Cooperative Bank Vinayak Bazaar and Rs 30,000 in JCCB Bahu Plaza. He clarified that credit balance lying in the proposed JCCI Club’s bank account after paying GST was Rs 2,41,00, 000 (JK Bank Bahu Plaza). He said the Sundry debtors that included the annual subscriptions due from the members and rent receivable up to March 2020, (BSNL & Others) by the CCI Jammu was Rs 71.40 lakhs.
He further claimed that in addition to the figures mentioned above which come out to be more than Rs 5 crores, Chamber also received CDF funds to the tune of Rs 40 lakhs from MP Jugal Kishore, Ex-DyCM Kavinder Gupta, former minister Priya Sethi and Ex-MLC Ashok Khajuria. Moreover Rs 50 lakhs were also received from J&K Finance Department for upgradation of infrastructure at Chamber House Jammu. Gupta said during his term as president, he never filled even Income Tax return.
