JAMMU, Oct 11: Crime Branch today produced supplementary challan before the Special Judge, Anti-Corruption Jammu in a case registered at Satwari Police Station against five persons including the then Principal of the Government Medical College, the then Superintendent Government Medical College and Hospital.
The accused in the case are Darshan Lal, son of Jaimal Ram of R S Pura, Dr R K Raina, the then Principal GMC, Jammu, Dr Jasbir Singh, the then Superintendent, GMC Hospital, Jammu, Dr S D Bassi, the then Assistant Professor Medicine posted in GMC and Chandan Singh, the then Cashier posted in GMC, Jammu.
According to the challan, Darshan Lal, who was cheating people by posing himself as a doctor and sometimes as an advocate, fraudulently processed the case of one Toshi Devi showing himself as her real brother for the grant of assistance from Medical Aid Trust, Chief Minister Secretariat. He forged the name of one Savitri Devi, a resident of Kalakote who was admitted to GMC Hospital, Jammu as a cancer patient.
During the course of investigation, search of the rented accommodation of Darshan Lal in Narwal Payeen was conducted and fake identity card of Darshan Lal issued by Dr Jasbir Singh, the then Superintendent, GMC Hospital, Jammu, case summary and discharge record of patient namely Savitri Devi were seized.
Later on, the case was transferred to Crime Branch, Jammu for further investigation and the same was accordingly challaned in the court of law on November 6, 2004.
Vide order dated May 8, 2006 passed by Sessions Judge, some observations were raised in the instant case and Crime Branch was directed to clear these observations. Accordingly, the case was investigated thoroughly and after getting some documents examined through FSL Jammu, Section 5(2) PC Act Svt.2006 was added and the case was finally concluded as challan and supplementary challan presented before the Court of Special Judge, Anti-Corruption, Jammu against the accused persons for judicial determination.
