MENDHAR, Sept 2: Mehmood Ahmed Rana, former Director Social Welfare, Jammu and brother of Dy Chairman J&K Legislative Council, Javed Ahmed Rana passed away at Mumbai after a brief illness today.
Mr Rana, a KAS officer of 84 batch, served in different capacities in J&K Govt and retired about two years back as Director, Social Welfare Department. He left behind his wife, two sons and a daughter.
Born in Kalaban village of Mendhar in district Poonch, Late Rana was younger brother of Masud Choudhary, (Retd ADGP and former Vice Chancellor, BGSBU, Rajouri).
Family sources said that the Nimaz-e-Janaza of Mehmood Rana shall be performed at Mendhar town on September 3 (Thursday) at 10 am and the mortal remains shall be laid to rest at his native village Kalaban, Mendhar at 2 pm.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed expressed grief over the sad demise of Mehmood Rana, brother of MLA Mendhar, Javed Rana.
In his condolence message, Mufti expressed solidarity with Javed Ahmad Rana and prayed to Almighty God to give him courage to bear the irreparable loss.
The Chief Minister also conveyed his sympathies to the bereaved family and prayed for peace to the departed soul.
