Ex Director IIT Kharagpur interacts with SMVDU students

KATRA, July 24: Former Director of IIT Kharagpur, Prof K L. Chopra visited Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, Katra and interacted with the newly admitted B Tech students.
In his address, Prof Chopra highlighted the significance of multi-disciplinary approach and mentioned contemporary revolutions in different domains of knowledge. “These revolutions are based on pluralistic disciplinary approaches and therefore, one must be inquisitive in choosing diverse courses during the program of learning,” he explained.
By considering the example of nanotechnology, he suggested the relevance of this field in the area of Chemistry, Biotechnology, Energy Studies etc. “It is our duty to focus on learning than anything other than it. While learning the basic concepts, we must raise questions related to their application,” he said and also emphasized the relevance of working in team and project-based learning.
The inspirational lecture by Prof Chopra, also a Padma Shri awardee, was followed by an intensive question-answer session. The interaction concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr Anil Tewari, Head, School of Philosophy & Culture.
