Evict land grabbers

Land grabbing has been going on in the State in various ways. A new pattern of land grabbing has come to light. Out of 84 leases made by the Gulmarg Development Authority to persons/commercial units, a good number of leases are in possession of land more than what has been initially allotted in their favour.  Authorities did not take any step to get the encroachment vacated. May be the actors are too influential to be brought under the rule of law. This land grabbing case was brought before the High Court which has ordered eviction of illegal occupation. The Court has also cast aspersions on District Administration of Baramulla for submitting only 31 land grabbing cases in his status report on Gulmarg land grabbing, and has sought complete information of all leases allotted by the Government.  At the same time the Court has ordered the Divisional Commissioner of Kashmir to provide adequate staff to the Deputy Commissioner of Baramulla to expedite the updated status report.
What we find is that somehow there is a nexus between the land grabbers and Revenue authorities that deliberately sleep over the matter and do not allow foreplay. This is misuse of power should be dealt with in accordance with the laws covering corruption and dereliction of duty.
