Every village in Ladakh to be electrified by 2019 end: DyCM

*Lays foundation stone of Emergency Block of SNM Hospital

LEH, Dec 18: Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh today laid the foundation stone of the Accident and Emergency block to upgrade SNM Hospital, here under PMDP. The block will be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 3.02 crore by Construction Division (PWD) as the executing agency.
Dr Singh also inaugurated OT equipments procured under special task force and the OT doctors and staff room cum pantry.
He was accompanied by CEC, LAHDC Dr Sonam Dawa Lonpo, DC Leh Avny Lavasa, EC (Works), EC (A&SH), EC (Tourism), Councilor Upper Leh, SP Leh, Additional SP Leh, CMO, MS, doctors and staff.
CEC Dr Sonam Dawa Lonpo requested Dr Nirmal Singh to release lapsed funds into council’s account for utilization considering the short working season in Leh. He also requested for opening of medical college in Leh, filling of vacant posts in Sub-District Hospital Nyoma and Khaltsi, revive exposure trainings for doctors, opening of AMT School in Leh and fulfill the staff shortage in the Health Department.
Addressing the gathering at SNM Hospital, Dr Singh assured to provide 100 per cent quality power supply and will get every village electrified in Ladakh by end of 2019. He also assured to personally take up the demand for medical college in Ladakh region at State and Centre level. Endorsing exposure training to doctors, he asked CEC to look for provisions at council level and submit a proposal to the Ministry at State level. He said that there is no shortage of fund at centre level but the problem is with the capacity to utilize the fund.
He suggested CEC to look into framing a work pattern considering the short working season and asked to submit project proposals including the facilities that can be provided in given situation in remote villages like Demchok. He assured to take up all their project plans with PM and concern ministries soon.
On the occasion, a short cultural program was also presented by medical staff.
Later, Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Kumar Singh inaugurated two motorable bridges over Indus River at Tar and Gyara villages.
Responding to the demand of Gyara-Mangyu village for realignment of power line in their village, Deputy Chief Minister directed PDD officials to do the needful. He also assured for upgradation of Gyara-Mangyu road.
CEC Dr Dawa, Councilor Khlatsi Lobzang Sherap and Deputy Commissioner Leh Avny Lavasa also addressed the gathering.
