JU to declare PG result within 45 days

JAMMU, June 2: In an landmark decision, Jammu University has decided to evaluate its PG answer books within the campus to save the precious time of students.
“Vice Chancellor, Jammu University, Prof Mohan Pal Singh Ishar soon after assuming the office has taken the decision for the evaluation of the PG answer sheets in the varsity campus through the concerned HODs, so that the result can be declared within 45 days after the evaluation, which otherwise was taking months together”, Official sources told Excelsior.
Sources said that the answer sheets were earlier evaluated from outside the Jammu University which had resulted in to delay in the declaration of the result and in the process students have to face manifold problems in pursuing the further courses.
The evaluators will be chosen by conveners of the Board of Studies including senior professors, external experts, etc, sources said, adding, that the Controller Office of the Jammu University besides collecting and coding the answer sheets will also send the same to the concerned heads of the departments for evaluation within 15 days time as allotted by the Vice Chancellor.
Sources said the heads of the teaching departments will get the answer sheets evaluated internally through the faculty members as recommended by the convener of the Board of Studies and will forward the award rolls to the Controller of Examination within a stipulated time of 15 days from the date of receipt of the answer scripts.
If the papers will be more than 200, the HODs are authorized to get the answer sheets evaluated from the faculty members of their respective departments or can book the examiners from outside the University. But evaluation will be done within campus, sources added.
There was no pressure from students in this regard but the decision was taken to mitigate their sufferings, so that their time will not get wasted and they can pursue higher degrees in-time, sources said, adding, that the process adopted earlier was cumbersome and time consuming.
When a student of one of the PG Departments was asked about this initiative of the Jammu University, he said that it was the long pending demand of the students to declare the result of the PG courses in time.
He added that declaration of result of the PG courses in time will be one of the great achievements of the Vice Chancellor Prof Mohan Pal Singh Ishar towards improvement of the Varsity curriculum and will surely go a long way for the benefit of the students community.
