JAMMU, Oct 4: The employees of Estates Department held protest demonstration in the office complex of Deputy Director  at Manda here today.
The employees under the banner of J&K Estates Empl-oyees Coordination Committee led by Yash Paul Sharma, chief coordinator,  assembled in the office complex of Dy Director and then started protest demonstration followed by day long dharna. They were shouting slogans in support of their long pending demands and also against the higher authorities in the department.
The employees alleged that despite several representations  to the higher authorities, no action was taken by the concerned officers. Only false assurances were given to them every time. They alleged that even several times protests were held but the officers gave just deaf ear towards the plight of the workers.

The employees were demanding reorganization of Estates department, to hold DCP of all cadre without any delay, regularization of daily wagers and consolidated workers, enhance their wages, provide two and half days’ additional pay to the field staff,  provide funds for construction of office of Dy Director Estates at Jammu and provide accommodation to all the employees of Estates department.
Later, the employees led by their leader, Yash Paul met the Dy Director Estates, Satish Sharma and projected their demands. Sharma assured the protesting workers to take up their issues with the higher authorities in the department.
Prominent among those, who participated in the protest programme included- Hardeep Singh, Rajesh Kumar, Jeet Raj,  Satish Kumar, Kuldeep Raj, Billu Ram, Ashok Kumar, Ravi Sharma and Sagar Massih.
