Estates Contractors demand release of pending payments

JAMMU, June 22: Contractors Association of Estate Division (CAED), Jammu today warned the Government that no work will be done by them until and unless their pending bills are cleared.
Addressing the protesting contractors, CAED president, Sanjay Soi, said that we are sitting on protest dharna for last 42 days to get released our pending bills from the Government but it is unfortunate that till now the Government failed to release our pending dues.
He said, “We have incurred crores of rupees on maintenance and upgradation of the bungalows and kothies of Ministers including Chief Minister besides Government quarters in various colonies, but no fund has been released by the Government to clear our pending bills.
He appealed the Government and the concerned higher authorities to immediately release the funds for clearance of their (contractors’) pending bills, which are running in crores.
Soi informed the protesting contractors that PHE Minister, Chowdhary Sukhnandan to which they approached, had assured that he will try his best to get their payments released. He further informed that Contractors Association of Estates Division, Kashmir has assured them of every possible help and cooperation and they themselves are on strike at Srinagar.
