Escaped thief re-arrested

JAMMU, Apr 9: Nowabad Police re-arrested a thief, who assaulted and escaped from the custody of police cops near High Court Janipur on March 19 this year.
As per police sources, on March 17 this year, a thief identified as Faizan Ahmed Dar, son of Nazir Ahmed Dar of District Baramulla was arrested by Nowabad Police in a theft case, which took place in a Shiv Temple near river Tawi bridge.
A case under FIR Number 53/2021 under Sections 457 and 380 IPC was registered at Police Station Nowabad against Faizan Ahmed Dar.
A team from Police Station Nowabad was taking the accused to High Court, when he after assaulting the cops fled away.
One more case under FIR Number 28/2021 under Section 224, 223 and 353 IPC was registered against the accused at Police Station Janipur and hunt was launched to nab him.
On specific information and coordination with local police, a team from Police Station Nowabad under the supervision of SHO Nowabad Inspector Deepak Jasrotia and DySP Headquarters Jammu Swati Sharma re-arrested the thief from Rafiabad area of Sopore in District Baramulla.
It is pertinent to mention here that two cops including ASI and SgCt were placed under suspension after the accused escaped from the police custody.
Further investigation into the cases registered against the accused is going on.
