JAMMU, Nov 25: Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo, BJP State spokesperson on Kashmir Affairs said that equitable development in all areas has the potential to add value to life. He was speaking at Chowki Jandrore in Ramnagar tehsil during his visit to the area.
Prominent among those who were present on the occasion included Aarti Sharma, Chairperson, Block Development Council, Ghordi, Mayadevi, Sarpanch, Birnoo and the Panchs of the adjoining areas. He said that in the changed scenario of democracy, citizens in all areas have a fundamental right to demand development from the concerned quarters.
Chrungoo said that the elections conducted for Panchayats, BDCs and DDCs are aimed at to take the governance to the doorstep of the people living in far flung areas. People will have access to the institutions of governance in order to implement developmental agenda. He also visited the Jandrore Higher Secondary School and was briefed about the difficulties being faced by the students in the school by the Principal and the staff of the school.
It was brought to the notice that the school premises was in a bad condition and needed immediate attention. The school is a cluster institution for a large adjoining area comprising Panchayats of Birnoo, Jandrore, Nalla Mallian, Surni, Rassian, Kalwalt and Prey Sullan. The area has a population of nearly one lakh. The management of the school and the Sarpanchs of the area have already taken up the issue of construction of Girls Hostel and Examination Hall for the school with the PWD authorities.
Chrungoo also took up the matter of renovation of the school building with the R&B authorities. In addition, the condition of the road from Udhampur to Ramnagar and Ramnagar to Chowki Jandrore was also taken up with the Chief Engineer, R&B and the Executive Engineer Udhampur. Though patch work is going on at some places from Udhampur to Ramnagar yet there is an urgent need to upgrade the link from Udhampur to Chowki and Gordhi and the concerned authorities are appealed to take these projects seriously and produce results in a time bound manner.
The BJP leader said that the far flung areas in the Jammu province have always been a case of discrimination and sometimes, unfortunately, wilfully neglect. That particular scenario needs to be changed forthwith and the Government and the administration need to be informed of the necessities of the areas.
