“Equality” between the cattle and the humans

Not literally but in actual practice, cattle as well as humans receive medical cum health related treatment all under one roof in Akoora in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district. The wisdom of the administration in clubbing the veterinary unit as well as the Primary Health Centre in one building looks not only prosaic but ill advised as well since the possibility and the fear of transmitting of infections and other health hazards from the ailing cattle to the humans cannot be overlooked.
The verandha is the same , ground floor is the same and shared, entrance is the same for the humans and the cattle and shared equally leading to many residents astonishingly believing that their case was a unique one where so much of “parity and equality ” between the cattle and the humans was not only arranged but ensured as well. In other words, perhaps the administration was treating people, like cattle which is further buttressed by the fact that the Health Centre had no medical facilities either . There is no Gynaecologist, no dentist and no nurses and only a few employees were performing “multiple duties”. Neither any facilities for conducting any tests nor any X-ray machine was there in the centre.
Even if, as claimed by the Government the clubbing of veterinary and Health Centre was arranged as a result of space constraint and non-availability of an alternate accommodation, it would cut not much ice logically and we would like to urge the District Administration to segregate the two facilities immediately from the existing building and arrange to house the Health Centre separately.
