EPFO launches vigorous awareness campaign on schemes

JAMMU, July 26: Employees Provident Fund Orgnization has launched a vigorous awareness campaign regarding EPFO schemes and benefits for the subscribers in Union Territories of Jammu Kashmir and Ladakh.
In this connection, employers and potential subscribers are being approached through series of seminars, webinars and interactions where news schemes and benefits for the EPFO subscribers are highlighted.

This was informed by Rizwan Uddin, who has recently joined as new Regional Provident Fund Commissioner EPFO Jammu, while talking to media persons, here today.
“In EPFO, employees are also getting benefits of pension and Insurance up to Rs 7 lakh, besides PF benefit,” he said.
While elaborating, he said that two types of pensions are given by EPFO under EPS scheme, 1995, which include Member pension on superannuation or upon disablement and Dependent pension for widow/children/nominee/dependent parents. Further, he added, EDLI scheme, 1976 provides Insurance benefit up to Rs 7 lakh in case of death/permanent disablement of the member.
Mr Rizwan informed that the Government of India has launched Aatmanirbhar Bharat Rozgar Yojana 3.0 (ABRY) for incentivize creation of new employment during Covid-19 recovery phase under which employee and employer share (24 percent) is deposited by the Central Government for new employees in an establishment employing up to 1000 employees.
“Benefit is directly provided in AADHAR seeded UAN accounts of members by the Central Government and the eligibility criteria is just to enroll minimum two new employees in establishment having up to 50 employees, and minimum five new employees in establishment with more than 50 employees,” he explained adding that validity of scheme is October 1, 2020 to March 31, 2022.
Maintaining that online claim settlement of whole Jammu Kashmir and Ladakh is happening at a fast pace, the Commissioner informed that more than 400 claims were settled by his team in a single day.

Replying to a query, Mr Rizwan said that around 75 percent accounts of erstwhile J&K Provident Fund Organization have been so far transferred to EPFO and the process was on for the rest of the cases.
