Ensure strict checking on NH to prevent movement of arms, terrorists: IGP

JAMMU, Sept 24: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Jammu Zone Mukesh Singh held meeting with DIG DKR Range and SSPs of Ramban, Doda and Kishtwar in order to discuss and review crime and law and order scenario in DKR Range of Jammu Province.
During the meeting, a detailed briefing was given by the DIG DKR Range and SSPs one by one with regard to crime under various heads which includes general crime, cases related to property theft, NDPS, bovines smuggling and heinous nature cases.
Discussion was also held on militancy and law and order front, particularly in-view of the ongoing developments in South Kashmir including recent killing of a Sarpanch and BDC member.
Arrest of absconders, location of missing persons, updating of history sheeters, disposal of complaints, DE and inquest proceedings were also reviewed and it was reiterated to take effective steps on ground to bring down pendency of under investigation cases.
IGP Jammu also reviewed the present security scenario as well as law and order and directed district SSPs to activate all available resources and ensure that peace and tranquility is maintained at any costs.
Singh stressed upon the district SSPs to hold regular crime meetings and ensure that the supervisory officers keep monitoring the progress of investigation of cases.
He further directed all the Range DIG and SSPs to activate their all resources to generate intelligence so that law and order is maintained at all costs and anti-national elements do not get a chance to vitiate the prevailing peace and tranquility in the region.
He further said that Supervisory Officers be directed to remain alert in their respective jurisdiction and ensure strict naka checking on NHW from valley to Jammu region to prevent the movement of arms and terrorists in their region.
It was also stressed upon district SSPs to keep close track over the social media and identify the miscreants and mischief mongers and take necessary action under law against those found involved in spreading rumour and anti-national comments. He further directed all the officers and men to remain extra vigilant, particularly in view of forth coming Bye-Poll Panchayat Election and religious festivals coming in the month of October 2020.
Later, IGP along with DIG DKR Range and District SSPs reviewed the ongoing construction work of Police Post Patnitop and renovation work of GOs Mess at Patnitop.
