SRINAGAR: Minister for Public Works and Parliamentary Affairs Abdul Rehman Veeri today asked the administration to deploy adequate men and machinery for speedy clearance of snow from the roads.
Mr Veeri was speaking at a meeting of officers to chalk out a plan for speeding up the process of road clearance.
Earlier, Mr Veeri alongwith all district and sector officers conducted an extensive tour of district Anantnag to take stock of the preparedness for snow clearance.
Mr Veeri was informed that snow clearance machines like snow plough, snow cat (plough), snow cutter, dozers, motor graders are ready and are being employed to clear the roads.
During the meeting, the Minister was informed that additional snow clearance machines will be deployed in those areas which receive heavy snowfall.
The Minister stressed on the close coordination between all agencies of the government to minimize the hardships to the public in case of heavy snowfall.
Directing the officials to clear the essential supplies vehicles stranded on roads on priority, Mr Veeri said that essential supplies should reach to the people in time.
Preventive measures should be taken in advance to ensure safety of life and property, the Minister said.
Mr Veeri also stressed on officers to ensure no disruption of traffic movement due to water-logging of roads and the concerned authorities must ensure that the inter and intra-state traffic moves normally.
