JAMMU, Nov 3: At the Sawasdee PM Modi program in Bangkok, the Kashmiri Pandit community had a second face to face meeting with the PM during which they urged upon him to ensure safe and dignified return of Kashmir Pandits (KPs) to their homeland in Valley.
A team of five Global Kashmiri Pandit Diaspora (GKPD) members led by Daleep Kumar Bakshi handed a memorandum to the Prime Minister, stating the community’s demands. Other members of the team were Vikas Marhata, Sarla Pandita, Usha Fotedar and Usha Bakshi.
Through their memorandum, the GKPD members requested Prime Minister Narendra Modi to set up a representative Advisory Council of Kashmiri Pandits which can work under the aegis of Minister of Home Affairs Amit Shah for return of KPs back to Valley.
“The Council should be entrusted to come up with a plan for full restorative justice for the Kashmiri Pandits as Internally Displaced Persons with a clear pathway towards them being able to go back to their homeland in the Valley when the time is right,” they said in the memorandum.
GKPD members further said that they will unequivocally support PM Modi and India to raise awareness that the cessation of Article 370 will enhance human rights greatly in Kashmir and will build a new future for the people and the land.
