Ensure effective home delivery of LPG: Zulfkar

JAMMU, Sept 13 : Minister for Consumer Affairs & Public Distribution (CA&PD) and Tribal Affairs Ch. Zulfkar Ali reviewed the performance of Legal Metrology Department here today.
Stressing for conducting regular  inspections, the Minister directed the officers to intensify campaigns for ensuring effective home delivery system of LPG and to keep check on unfair trade practices relating to weights and measures, packaged commodities, LPG, etc in the market.
He also directed the officers to organize camps for creating awareness among masses regarding their consumer rights and establish grievance redressal cells in all the districts for ensuring quick and prompt response to the grievances of the consumers.
The Minister took a detailed district wise review of the physical and financial achievements of the department in Jammu division.
He said that   a Legal Metrology laboratory and consumer forum will be established and adequate funding will be given to the department for procuring modern equipments.
The Minister directed the officers to ensure that the consumers get quality products besides asked them to focus on distribution of kerosene oil in the remote areas of the state.
The Minster also asked the officers of the Food Corporation of India to install digital scales in all the stores.
Among others the meeting was attended by Director CA&PD GS Chib, Joint Controller (Enforcement) Amar Singh, Deputy Controller (Enforcement) Manoj Prabhakar and Deputy Controller (Consumer Protection) Tanveer Ahmed.
