Ensure blacktopping of Jhiri road before Mela: Sukhnandan

JAMMU, Nov 17: Minister of PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, Choudhary Sukhnandan Kumar has urged the engineers to complete the black topping work of Jhiri and adjoining roads before the week long Jhiri Mela commences on November 20.
The Minister, while giving instructions to engineers on site said that lakhs of people from the State and other parts of country will visit the holy shrine of Baba Jitto in Jhiri to take part in the week long mela and to ensure hassle free traveling of the pilgrims the road should be renovated before that.
The Minister also inspected the double lanning of Rs 18 crore Sangrampora Gajansoo road on which the work is in progress. He asked the contractors to ensure the quality of work and urged the engineers not to make any compromise on this account.
The Minister said that coalition Government is committed to provide a transparent Government and equitable development of all the three regions of the State and it will not make any compromise on quality of work.
He said the Central Government led by Narendra Modi is also keen to take the State on path of progress and it showed a lot of magnanimity by providing a huge package of Rs 80,000 crore to realize this dream.
With the release of funds by Centre soon many developmental projects will be taken up in hand for the welfare of people of the State, he added.
The Minister toured villages of Bawa Talab, Jhiri, Shama Chak, Dhab Karamdin, Marh, Chak Jaffar, Karloot and Gho-Manhasa.
He was accompanied by Executive Engineer PWD Rajan Mengi, SDM Marh, Hitish Gupta, Tehsildar Marh Mr Bakshi and Ex MLA Raipur Damana, Bharat Bushan.
