This has reference to the news item ‘Enrich Dogri Literature’ DE 12, 2103.
The efforts made by Dogri Sanstha Jammu to encrich Dogri is praiseworthy. The Sanstha has taken upon itself the cause of promoting Dogri in the Jammu Division.
There is need to enrich the language so that it meets the modern day challenges and meets the needs of its speakers. At a time when many languages are vanishing from this planet, it is the duty of people of this region to see that it does not meeet the same end. Rather people should find ways and means to pass it to posterity without any distortion and dilution. With this language is attached the cultural identity of this region. The books being published in Dogri need to be read by all sections of the society. This will give them a feel of the sweetness of their language and at the same time the language may find a space in their hearts of people. The writers are requested to take such issues which may not only entertain masses but will also provide information to the masses.
