Enhancing Pilgrim Services

The introduction of an exclusive helicopter booking quota for senior citizens and specially-abled pilgrims by the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board is a welcome move that reflects the Board’s commitment to inclusivity and accessibility. This decision comes in response to persistent requests from the Senior Citizen Forum and aligns with the Board’s broader efforts to make the sacred journey more comfortable for all. The separate quota system for battery car bookings, introduced earlier, received an overwhelming response, demonstrating the pressing need for specialised facilities for those with limited mobility. Extending a similar provision for helicopter bookings will encourage more such devotees to undertake this revered pilgrimage.
Beyond transport facilities, the Board has introduced several thoughtful measures that enhance both the spiritual and logistical aspects of the journey. The permanent free tea Langar Seva at the Katra Railway Station is a commendable initiative that ensures arriving pilgrims receive a warm welcome. Additionally, the inclusion of the popular North Indian dish, Kadhi-Chawal, in the free langars at Adhkuwari and Bhairon Ji will offer devotees a taste of local cuisine, further enriching their experience. On the spiritual front, the establishment of a Hawan Poojan facility at Adhkuwari Yagyashala is a meaningful addition, allowing pilgrims to engage in sacred rituals in a serene environment. These enhancements also reinforce the spiritual sanctity of the pilgrimage. Infrastructure development remains a key priority, with major improvements underway on the traditional Banganga track. The construction of a queue complex at Darshani Deodi, capable of accommodating 1,500 pilgrims at a time, along with track widening, ornamental street lights, and drainage system upgrades, reflects a forward-thinking approach to managing the increasing footfall. Additional facilities at the newly inaugurated Shubra Bhawan and a covered holding area at Adhkuwari further indicate the Board’s proactive planning. Another notable initiative is the introduction of Priority Darshan for local residents on the basis of Aadhar card identification. By addressing accessibility, comfort, and infrastructure needs, the Shrine Board is ensuring that the divine experience of visiting Vaishno Devi remains seamless, inclusive, and spiritually fulfilling for all devotees.
